Control It All Remote with AirDoc is the only iPhone based universal remote that wirelessly streams music to your existing stereo

Control It All Remote with AirDoc is the only iPhone based universal remote that wirelessly streams music to your existing stereo

AUSTIN, TX-MiCommand Inc., a new breed consumer electronics company focused on smartphone and mobile compute devices, announced the availability of Control It All Remote with AirDoc. AirDoc technology lets users wirelessly stream music from their iPhone to their existing stereo. The combination of an iPhone universal remote and wireless music streaming is an industry first. The system is composed of an iPhone app and a Bluetooth transceiver unit.

Control It All Remote with AirDoc gives customers complete control using their iPhone. Consider a simple but powerful example: Control It All Remote with AirDoc lets you enter a room; turn off the television; turn on your stereo; switch the input source; stream music from your iPhone, and adjust the volume—all from the palm of your hand using your iPhone and the Control It All Remote app.

What’s more, the Control It All Remote with AirDoc, makes music social again. Friends can join in and take turns streaming music from their iPhone, iPod, or iPad with the touch of a button in the app. This opens up a number of possibilities like “name that tune” games, or parties where your guests take turns being the DJ and stream music from their personnel collections on their iPhones. Control It All Remote is the only product with the ability to share the streaming role among multiple iPhones with the touch of a button in the app. Other solutions require cumbersome Bluetooth disconnection and reconnection, which makes sharing roles impractical. “We’re excited about customer reaction to these latest innovations, and the prospect of future apps that take advantage of the AirDoc’s unique capabilities,” said Richard Bohl, vice president of engineering at MiCommand.

Five Reasons Why Control It All Remote is Innovative and Superior
1.	Control It All Remote with AirDoc is the only universal remote with wireless music streaming. The universal remote capabilities provide full control over virtually any audio video component including: televisions, cable and satellite boxes, blu-ray and DVD players, A/V receivers, and more.
2.	Control It All Remote allows multiple iPhones, iPod’s, and iPad’s to connect and stream music with the touch of a button on your iPhone.
3.	Control it All Remote uses Bluetooth A2DP, a high fidelity transport that feature effortless setup and ease of use.
4.	Control It All Remote with AirDoc let’s you stream music to your existing stereo without a computer.
5.	Control It All Remote is an out of the box complete solution and doesn’t use Wifi or require any networking whatsoever.

The Control It All Remote app is free and can be downloaded by users to experience the user interface. Users can purchase the transceiver unit online from MiCommand and popular online retailers. The app can be downloaded from App Store at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/control-it-all-remote/id431778312?mt=8&ls=1

The question I put before you today is whether Conventional remotes will go the way of the pager--toward rapid extinction.

Some time ago, it was quite popular, even necessary, to own a pager. Pagers permeated our society so quickly and with such force that they became de rigueur for everyone from doctors to drug dealers. Today, if you ask anyone under the age of thirty what a pager is, at best they’ll tell you ”it’s the thingy you get at the restaurant that beeps when your table is available,” or even worse, they’ll stare at you like a stumped contestant on Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader.

The question I put before you today is whether Conventional remotes will go the way of the pager–toward rapid extinction.

When you consider how smartphones are becoming pervasive and compare their raw technological capabilities versus that of say a Harmony remote, it’s clear that the Harmony remote is will experience a potentially cataclysmic turn of events. Consider the following feature comparison table:

Multi-room control……………….advantage Control It All
Through wall operation………..advantage Control It All (unless buy an add-on RF unit)
Multi-touch display………………advantage Control It All
Eyes Free gesture control……advantage Control It All
Rich infrared (IR) database….advantage Logitech (for older devices)
Dynamic Views…………………..advantage Control It All
Learning…………………………….toss up
Macro support…………………….advantage Logitech (for now at least)

Is the race is over? In remote control features alone, the Control It All Remote is to the Harmony remote as the cell phone was to the pager. Now here’s the kicker: when you take into account the convergence features of an iPhone (email, internet access, camera, and music streaming), and the the fact that the free Control It All app that can be loaded onto any number of iPods and iPads—giving each family member their personal customizable remote, the comparison isn’t even fair.

In the interest of fair disclosure, I’ll admit to having a strong bias. After all, it was a similar technical comparison that led MiCommand and develop an iPhone Remote. The iPhone’s ability to displace conventional remotes like the Harmony remote is just the beginning. The smartphone is the convergence device of the decade and will disrupt many single purposed products and markets. Head’s up GPS’, portable digital camera’s, mp3 players, and handheld games, a remote disguised as an iPhone is on a convergence path.
