Transceiver Unit

Control It All Transceiver Unit

Summary

Slightly larger than a deck of cards, the Transceiver can be placed on an end table or shelf where it has a clear line of sight to the components it will control. The Transceiver is like a collection of remotes in a box, that you control with your iPhone. Once positioned on a table or shelf, you never have to touch the Transceiver again. Nothing to plug into your phone, no networking, no wires–Your iPhone, iPod, or iPad talks to the Transceiver, and the Transceiver talks to your AV components.

Technical

The Transceiver converts signals sent from the iPhone over Bluetooth into Infrared (IR) signals that control AV equipment. The Transceiver is design to operate without user intervention.  Transceiver setup simply involves plugging in the AC power supply and positioning the Transceiver so that it has a clear line of sight to the devices it will control.

Bluetooth Pairing

To begin communication, the Transceiver Unit and iPhone must first be paired. Pairing is the Bluetooth process for exchanging information that allows future connections to occur without user intervention. After pairing, the Transceiver Unit will connect with the iPhone automatically when the two are within range. Refer to the users guide for instructions on pairing.

Transceiver Positioning

The Transceiver Unit must have an unobstructed line of sight view of the AV equipment that it will control. The infrared beam has a range of up to 10 meters, and a dispersion angle of up to 24 degrees measured from center. This means that at 3-meters (9-ft), the beam will be approximately 3-meters (9-ft) wide; at 6-meters (18-ft) the beam will be approximately 6-meters wide. Since the signal is strongest in the center, for best results position the Transceiver such that it points to the centroid of the AV equipment.

Multiple phones

The Transceiver supports simultaneous communication with up to 4 iPhones. Multiple users with iPhones, iPods, or iPads can control AV components  through a single Transceiver. Commands are serviced by the Transceiver on a first-come-first-served basis.

Multiple rooms

The Control It All iPhone App supports multiple room configurations. Each room requires a separate Transceiver and rooms are selected via the Select Room navigation tab. Devices in a room can be controlled by users in other rooms, as long as they are within range.

Wireless Music Streaming over Bluetooth

The Control It All Remote with AirDoc lets you wirelessly stream music from your iPhone, iPod, or iPad to your existing stereo or speaker system connected to the Transceiver’s 3.5mm audio jack. The Transceiver supports up to 4 active Bluetooth connections–any of which can take control of the music stream with a press of a button in the app. This makes it easy for users to take turns playing music from their personal collection on their iPhone. Music can be streamed from any app or website that produces audio such as the iPod app, Pandora, MySpace, and YouTube.
